Section 6 of the Enforcement of Court Orders Act 2009
As a result of the McCann case in June 2009, the practice and procedure of enforcement of debts has changed considerably. Subsection 7 permits a judge to request a creditor or a debtor to seek resolution of their dispute by mediation. Also, the Law Reform Commission Consultation Paper on Personal Debt Management and Debt Enforcement makes strong recommendations in this regard.
